Beside the biweekly meetings, our puppy club has a monthly fun outing. This evening was our annual boardwalk and ice cream palor trip. This is the newest "kid" on the block. Isn't she the cutest!!

My quest to capture new and interesting subjects, while participating in Project 365, has brought me to many of the local area which have long been on my must see list. B and I have traveled all round our state and are being to know the ins and outs of very town, large and small. We have visited all of the NJ lighthouses, battle fields, wineries J, and now I can check off all of our great boardwalks.

I had been to Asbury Park, Point Pleasant, Seaside, Atlantic City and Wildwood but had forgotten about Ocean City. How, I don’t know. Last week on our way home from Wildwood/Cape May, I took notice of exit 30, Ocean City and last evening B and I took a walk along their boards.

While each of the boardwalks have amusement rides and food, lots of food each has it’s own feel. Ocean City is a “dry” town (meaning no liqueur) making it a wonderful place for families and children. The boardwalk was full of fun; a freckle contest was taking place, several bands were playing, a hula hoop demo could been seen and of course, the usual magic man was performing.

It was the perfect evening to take in all the excitement of the youngsters, have an ice cream cone and to watch a yellow/orange sunset.

After yesterday's perfect weather, I was a bit disappointed with today's dreary overcast sky. With the promise of rain at any moment, I took a the dogs for a brief walk and headed over to the boardwalk to enjoy one of the few off season (minus bennies) days remaining.

B and I went over to the boardwalk last evening, the air was still and temps at 78 degrees. What a wonderful night for pizza at our favorite place and a stroll. I tried to capture a shadow photo of B and I by the fence. I didn't have my settings correct and the exposure was way to long. I moved the camera and captured the nearby light, creating the etching. I kind of liked it and it is different from any thing I have posted prior. So for today a mistake made into the POD.

Atlantic City’s Steel Pier ~

What a delightful day, here we are in the middle of which is normally one of the harshest months of winter and we reached temperatures in the upper 60s. It would have been a waste to spend a day like this inside, so B and I packed up and drove to Atlantic City.

I can hear the rhythmic sound of the ocean waves. I can hear the sound of children and adults screaming from both delight and fear. I can hear the music blasting and I in my mind I can hear the sound of the horses galloping up the 60 foot ramp before diving into a pool of water.

One of my new year resolutions is to practice more portrait photography. Only problem is I have no one to practice on. Oh, sure B will play around but for only so long then I have to start promising to go to the sporting good shop while he looks for new lures and reels. That's too high a price for me to pay. So I was thrilled when Phriend offered to model for me yesterday. We were at a boardwalk we don't often frequent and the newness offered many awesome backdrops.

Phriend Noir ~

As the year was ending, Phriend and I discussed how pleased we both were with the process we had made through the year, how we were glad we had successful completed Project 365 and how we were thrilled to have participated but were glad it was done. Well, by the end of the first day of the new year, we had both decided to continue on with Project 365 +1.

It has been a very long time since we have had the chance to get out on a photo adventure. Today with the weather, once again feeling more like Spring than Winter, we traveled to a boardwalk at the southern end of the state. One we don’t often visit. One which would offer new photo opportunities.

This year I am hoping to learn more about and practice more portrait photography. Phriend was gracious enough to be my model while I practice several more “film noir” images.

With it raining on and off, very heavy at times, B and I made the decision to cancel our plans to witness the inflation of the Macy’s balloons. We have gone on prior years and it is a good time. We're sorry we missed it.  This was not an easy decision but the thought of getting drenched, having to walk 20 city blocks and then having to wait for a bus just didn’t seem like fun. During one of the breaks in the rain we were able to get a walk in and a quick visit to the beach.

There are so many things to be thankful for: my health, my amazing family, my wonderful friends, my crazy and silly dogs. Both my husband and I have a jobs and I have a roof over my head and food on my table. I have the beach and ocean, so I can feel the sand under my feet and the warmth of sunshine on my shoulders. But above all things I am thankful for the love of my husband and the joy he brings me each day.

As of lately, I am spending more time playing with processing, editing my photos.  So, this week I decided to link up with Ashley's "Good to WOW", shoot and edit. The prompt this week ~ Fall.

While I am a summer girl and enjoy everything to do with the beach, the sand, the sound of the waves crashing on the shoreline and the feel of having skin to tight for your body after a day in the sun, I am trying to embrass this colder, dark season of Autumn.

I do like the feel of a good pair of comfy sweats and being able to put them on right when I get in from work and love the taste of freshly homemade, hot out of the pot, applesauce.  It doesn't mean I like Autumn. Really, does it need to get dark at 4:30?

We haven't had much of a color change here yet so shooting any of the Fall foliage is out of the question.   But we know Old Man Winter is coming as he continues to push and shove Lady Summer out of his way. There has been nothing but rain this last week and nothing but rain in the forecast for the next 4 days. This photo shows my mood and the feel of Autumn here.

SOOC, I have been using a wide angle filter, hence the dark circle around the photo.  I cropped and straightened, processed to HDR and smoothed.

Due to a conflict in our work schedules, it has been nearly two weeks since Phriend and I have had a chance to get out together and explore the world through our lenses. Phriend was off yesterday, I was not. So using my charming personality a bag of M&Ms, I begged my boss to allow me to leave work early. Success!

After little debate over our destination, we ended up in Asbury Park. The last time we visited, it was while bundled up in our winter gear and knew we would be back during the warmer days. We strolled around the town, window shopping the small shops but we could hear the sound of the ocean calling us.
