A New Year:

During a recent visit to the National Catheral, I stopped for a moment at the alter to say a prayer; may this coming year bring my family and friends health, happiness and peace in their hearts.

October Moon:

Last evening proved to be a superb night to stroll the boards. Walking past the big globe at "Ripley’s Believe It or Not", I couldn't help but to notice the spectacular full October moon.

Coffee and The Cake Boss

Yes, we did indeed take an almost 2 hour drive just to satisfy a sweet tooth. Our visit to Carlo's "The Cake Boss" Bakery was well worth the ride. "The Cake Boss" airs on TLC Mondays at 10:00 p.m.

Macro Monday: 6-15

The lake on which we were kayaking was loaded with lilly pads and while I have seen these water plants from a far, I had even looked at the flower very closely. So, I took the chance of dropping my camera into the water, reached out over the edge of the ever rocking kayak and snapped away. I gots shots of the edge of the plant, the water and no plant, just the edges of the green pads and than finally the shot I was hoping for. I was quite surprise (I didn't drop the camera and) at how the inside of the flower looks.

Out for Breakfast ~

Even though the morning air was brisk and the skies were overcast, we grabbed our bagel and cuppa tea and headed out for breakfast at what could possible be one of our favorite places.

Kayaking ~ around My World:

We headed up to the northeastern part of NJ over the weekend, put the kayaks in the water and paddled around until our arms could take no more. The view of New York City was wonderful. That is the Empire State Building in the background. It was great fun!

I can't remember the last time we had the pleasure of the sun's company. We have had so much rain, I am starting to think Edward and Bella maybe living amoung us.

My World Tuesday: 5-5

My small childhood home holds many wonderful memories. I was surrounded by family; grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. My parents felt, as my sister and I aged, we had outgrown this home. This greatly saddened my sister and me. We moved across town. Although my grandparents have long ago passed and extend family has also moved, my sister always held on to the dream of moving back into this neighborhood, onto “our” street. Several years ago, she purchased the house directly next our childhood home. A wonderful 1800 cemetery lays in her back yard. As children, we would often wander through reading the head stones. Over the years many have cracked and fallen but our favorite, from April 3, 1833, with this inscription still remains;

Behold and see as you pass by.
As you are now, so once was I.
As I am now, so you will be.
Prepare for death and follow me.
