I don’t know if Papa is getting use to me, if it is the distractions of the boats on the busy bay, or just pure luck but as he sat resting on his chair, I was able to get about 20 feet from him. This allowed for some excellent up close shots.

Day 5 ~ with "Yellow Girl" brought more learning and exploring. She comes, running and bouncing, when called, she sits with a bit of wiggling, she sleeps through the night, and she has had very few "accidents" in the house. She is making friends with Murf and Willy, blue gorilla and pink tiger.
She has learned one can never have too many friends.

Star Critter ~

For many years, I have had the pleasure of living along the shoreline of the Atlantic Ocean. This last summer brought several new sights. On more than one occassion I had the pleasure of watching schools of dolphin swimming, feeding, and playing in the waves. During one of my sunrise walks, I sadly came across a stringray which the waves had brought ashore during the dark of night, and last week I witnessed a dozen or so starfish in jetty pools. I am not sure what a group of starfish is called. Is it a galaxy?

Itchy Critter ~

The Patagonia Cavy ~ large rodent which resembles the hare. Adults weigh in at 40 lbs. When being eyed up, as a good snack, by a larger creature they can reach speeds of 35 miles/hour. However, it appears this poor little fellow was having difficulties out running the pesky, little black flies.

Central Park NYC:

There is much controversy over the use of the horse and carriage in Central Park. I am not a proponent of this, but many are and over the years it has become a major attraction. An abundant number of these grand equines all attached to their buggies can be seen lined up standing nose to tail along the streets of the park near Columbus Circle, uncomplainingly awaiting the next rider.

We had lots of critters this week. They came 2 X 2 until there were 6. Murphy and Willow's cousins came for a visit. We actually had 24 feet of dog! After tiring them all with a 4 mile walk, much running, and playing it was time for a photo shoot. They are the poster "children" for rescued dogs. All, with the exclusion of Willow, were adopted from local shelters.

15 inches of snow on Monday and now the weather forecast, for this weekend, calls for temps in the 60s. Wooohoooo! Get out the bathing suits!

While out kayaking I came across this Cormorant sunbathing himself. Cormorants are silly birds who like to dive under the water only to reappear in some unexpected place. I have kicknamed them "clown" birds. So much fun to watch.

While out kayaking I came across this lovely swan. Generally they are found in pairs. This one seemed to be lonely as it followed along side my kayak for quite sometime. I hope he/she enjoyed my company as much as I enjoyed his/hers.
