While out kayaking I came across this Cormorant sunbathing himself. Cormorants are silly birds who like to dive under the water only to reappear in some unexpected place. I have kicknamed them "clown" birds. So much fun to watch.
Similar birds in the pond out back of my house, called anhinga or "snake birds" - when they swim, they sometimes submerge their whole body with just their snake-like neck and head sticking above the water as they paddle along.

Great picture. I love the way they fan out their wings to dry off after a swim.
I do like cormorants. We have them here. Majestic image.

I don't think I've ever seen one of these before. Sounds like an interesting bird.
I see them here too. They sit in a large dead tree with their wings spread out to dry.
Nice shot for CC.
I think they get their share of fish but this is a really well feed bird.
