"Mercedes" has granted me the pleasure of being her featured blog for the week. Thank you, it is quite an honor. If you have found your way here through her place ~ Welcome. I always have the kettle on for tea and I always have chocolate in the fridge, so help yourself. Enjoy and take a look around.
I guess I should introduce myself, I’m a woman, let’s just say well pass 39. I had the wonderful pleasure of being a “stay at home mom”. After my sons moved out on their own, (they are now 24 & 25) I went back to school to get my BA in biology. I am currently taking my last 4 credits, which happen to be pre-calculus, before graduating in May. I work substituting in my local school system. I enjoy all of the children, kindergarteners thru the seniors. I would like to teach, but I haven’t decided which grade or subject.
My younger son is currently attending the same college as I. No, we haven’t had any classes together but we do like to run down to the diner for a quick meal between our classes. Perhaps, it’s because I buying! My older son spent 6 years in the United States Marines and served time in Iraq. I am happy to report he is now safe in the States. I could not be prouder of them. They have grown be amazing young men.
I have been raising puppies for The Seeing Eye for the pass 12 years. Yes, that means I have had a new puppy every year for the pass 12 years. And yes, that also means, I always have lots of paper towels on hand. You can read all about our "puppy raising" adventures at our other blog.
And after searching for 40 some years I have finally found my soul mate. “B” is a wonderful partner and a terrific friend.

Yeah! Thanks for this! I have edited my post to include a little bit more about you and have linked this post into my post! I just love your place and think you are a wonderful woman!
Mercedes ~ you are too kind.
Mercedes sent me over as you were her featured blogger of the week. Mercedes and I are good bloggy friends. I have a doggy blog and we met through there, as she blogs about her dog patch.
I loved your story. I too am an "empty nester" and very busy too.
I would like to know where you took those pictures. You said, "the Bay". Is that the San Francisco Bay Area in California?
I live in California, in beautiful Simi Valley in Ventura county. :)
urpets ~ Thanks for stopping by and for your kind words. I live "down the shore" in Jersey! When I speak of the bay, I am neither referring to the Barnegat Bay or the Delware Bay, it depends on how far I ventured on that given day.
I felt like I got to know you so much better from this post. :) Usually I'm just looking at your photos and what your day was like but now I was introduced to you. ;) Hello!
Thanks so much for this post. It's so nice having a chance to know you better!
Pre-calc, yuck. I tried taking calculus in college and got a D. I was going to major in math and teach jr. high or high school math. That didn't happen. Good luck on your last class! It was fun learning a little more about you. Also, thank you and your son for protecting our country!
Debbie ~ I didn't say I passed it. I have been known to light a candle and say a prayer before each class.
Nice to meet you. I found you through Mercedes who is so much fun. It's always nice to find another dog lover like me.
Gina ~ pleasure to meet you too. Thanks for stopping by. I will try to find my way to your place via Mercedes.
Your about me was a good thing for your regulars too-I see! Gina is under my A1 Dogs & Cats Blogroll: Gina & Tuffy.
