The Grinch Who Stole Pumpkins ~ You’ve all heard me whine, cry and complain mention how much I dislike Autumn and for oh, so many reasons. On my long list, and among them but not limited to, is Halloween. It has always seemed absurd to me. All year long we teach our children not to talk to strangers; then on this one day, a so called holiday, we dress them up and send them out to roam the streets, in the dark of night. Then we encourage them to walk up to some unknown home and ask for candy. Really?? We preach about not opening the door to anyone unfamiliar. Now, on the day of devils, demons and ghosts, we nonchalantly watch them hold the door wide open for a complete stranger standing on the other side wearing a mask! Yes, it is a scary day indeed.

That's an interesting perspective on Halloween, it makes some sense. Where I live there are assorted planned activities so you don't need to send your kids to strangers houses if you don't want to.

I agree, having never looked at it that way. These are strange times we live in these days. That aside, pretty cool picture.

Never thought of it that way either. So many trunk or treats these days that you don't really have to go to strangers for candy, BUT we will be. There's a house with mulled wine calling my name... and I admit to stealing candy from my kiddos!! =P LOVE this picture!!

You might not care for the season but you captured it perfectly with your image.

Wow, I never thought of it that way....and I have two kids! Thank goodness our neighborhood does a pizza party and hay ride for the kids, and then we all trick or treat at each others houses, so its relatively safe, but I'm going to remember your words on Monday night.

Ha ha, you're right. It's sorta like Mardi Gras around here. We teach our kids to not pick up and eat anything that fell on the ground, but at Mardi Gras where people have spit, walked, dropped food, and other named stuff, we allow them to pick up candy from the ground and eat it. :)

You captured Halloween's spirit even though you aren't too fond of the holiday itself,
so, thanks!
