Recently I took an Ornithology class. I have always had an interest in birds, so when I was able to take a college level class, I jumped at the opportunity. Many of our classes were held at the Forsythe National Wildlife refuge. It has become one of my favorite birding spots. During my trip there today, I spotted this beautiful Short Eared Owl. I am really wishing I had rented the 150 - 500mm.

What a gorgeous place! Should I be embarassed that I've never heard of Ornithology?
I bet that the guy with nice glass would let us borrow his :)
Wonderful! I'm quickly falling in love with bird watching. They're all so beautiful! (Funny... I've spent some time in Forsythe... it IS beautiful there!)
Neat...I would love to take a class like that. Good job on spotting him, he really blends in.
Very cool hobby! I love how you captured the wind blowing in the photo.
Wonderful photo!
I was slightly jealous of someone's lens the other day. Although I believe he was from the local paper, so it probably wasn't "his" lens anyway. But it sure was a nice big zoom. :)
Wow that's amazing! What a cool place.
LOL! I have never heard of it either. That really does look like a beautiful place!
What a great shot. Great composition and enjoy your new hobby!
I'd like to go to the center and take a birding class! Awesome capture!
