My Retriever:

Orlando is not your typical lab. Oh sure, he’s the happy-go-lucky, tail wagging, full of life is wonderful exuberance that labs are made of, however, in his nearly 12 years, he has never retrieved a thing. No, not one tennis ball, not one stick, no nothing! In fact, on the numerous times I have tried to teach him to retrieve he looks at me as if to be saying, well if you want it why the heck did you throw it? Leaving me to make the long walk out to the far end of the field to retrieve the tennis ball all while he stands watching me. This wasn't much fun for me, I gave up.

So you can imagine my surprise when the other day, during our walk, when he came running up to me with a stick. Even Murphy seemed surprise and took great interest in Orlando’s treasure. I wondered if Orlando had gone mad, senile, forgetting himself in his old age. Then, upon closer examination I realized, in horror, he had found a bit of venison. Good thing B was there to save me from having to touch it.

Your dog totally reminded me of this dog I saw walking down the street today. He had what I would call a small log as he was trotting along. Amazing!

LOL, look at Murphy, in the second pic, he's having a good sniff of that venison "stick!"

Our old labrador unretriever, Alex, who is featured on my header, never retrieved a single thing in his entire life, much to my chagrin. I tried to so hard to teach him to be a frisbee dog.

He'd run after the stick/frisbee/ball, but as soon as he got to it, he'd wander off, sniffing around at his surroundings instead.
Now that I think about it, I believe some of them have a form of ADD in their genes. ;)

LOL Murphy looks very curious about Orlando's "stick".

My girls love to retrieve (even though Willow's not supposed to do it), and Stella is especially bad about finding "gross" things.

Sissy is the only one of my Chihuahuas that love to run after a toy and bring it back.

Jonesy is not interested at all, and Tinky is just interested in watching Sissy.
