spring time fills the streets or driveway with lots of bloomin' things!
maybe it's time to put the camera down and get busy weeding, or
maybe not!

Spring is in the air ~ but the temps dropped down below freezing last night.
I was glad to see the bloomin' things survived.

“Mermaid’s Necklace” ~ whelk egg cases attached in a long string which can contain 150 or more eggs capsules. They are laid, in deep water, during the spring migration and generally by the time they reach the shoreline the eggs have hatched.

"Yellow Girl" still thinks it's fun to put everything in her mouth,
including but not limited to a big hunk of Murf's fur! mmmmm, not so tasty.

I have always equated cattus with hot, dry, sandy areas.
I am still suprised whenever I see the abundance of cattus we have at the beach.

While enjoying a visit to the island today, I saw more red fox than I had ever before. They are looking a raggy as they are currently shedding their winter coats but they are as beautiful as ever.

Over the last several days B and I have slowly been introducing “Yellow Girl” to the bay. We decided it would be in her best interest for us to leave “Black Dog” at home, as Willow has a tendency to be … mmmm, a bit over zealous. We thought it best for “Yellow Girl” to explore on her own, to play in sand without being run over, to test the waters without being dragged into the deep end. To be able to sniff the crabs and shells without it being a game of chase, to taste the seaweed without it becoming a game of tug. “Yellow Girl” was in her glory, sniffing, exploring, tasting sand and licking the water, all new and exciting.
Yesterday we thought we were at the safety point of including the big “Black Dog”. And at first we were delighted in watching our girls play at the beach, chasing, jumping, sniffing, running in and out of the bay and playing in the waves. Then things took a turn, Willow starts running like the devil himself is chasing her, she runs up though the reeds and dives directly into the blackish mud of the still water of the overflow. She sinks in up to her chest and before we could grab for the “Yellow Girl”, she follows suit. Yup, right up to her neck!
Two baths and two days later, we are still cleaning the car, scrubbing the bathtub, washing the floors, soaking the stains out of our clothes and doing oodles of laundry. And yes, we are still laughing at the sight of our girls looking like they were dipped in chocolate!

B and I took "Yellow Girl" with us on our Osprey visit, so many new sights and sounds. The moist air intensives the smell of the salt air. The felt of soft sand under foot and in the mouth. It was a wonderful new place to explore.

While this chair does look like a lovely place to sit to take in the breathtaking view, one would not dare to have a seat. The tall pole off to the right houses a large Osprey nest. Last Spring during my many visits, early morning and late day, I had the opportunity to watch a feathered family grow.
The parents would fish, snagging a meal with their powerful talons, flying off to sit on this chair to eat their fill before returning to the nest to feed the young. For the better part of the spring and into the early summer, I would witness their activities. Come late summer, after the siblings learned to fly, the parents took turns teaching them to shop for their own meals. When this mission was accomplished, and the air turned cool, the family headed for a warmer climate.
This afternoon I visited once again and I am thrilled to see the return of the Osprey pair. Hopefully, I will be able to witness a new generation grow. For once again, it will not be a “silent spring”.

The prompt for my flickr group today was sparkling. I like to use this glitter paper for background on occassion. Today I took it outside into the bright 70 degree sunshine, opened my aperture and shot, creating this awesome bokeh effect.

I don’t consider myself a girl who requires frills, bells and whistles. I don’t need all, or the best clothes, money can buy (I didn’t mention camera here!). So I was very happy with my old cell phone, which was used mostly for text messaging. I am not one who carried it everywhere, and I have never used the camera. In fact, the only photos I have on the phone are those of me trying to answer the darn thing!
When it recently became time for an upgrade, I decided to take the plunge and go with one of those fancy “do everything” phones. You know the ones with “apps”. I didn’t think I would use many of the features, and certainly not all of them, but I did like the idea of having GPS on hand and the thought of being able to go on the internet during work breaks sounded appealing.
Fast forward a week, I am now going to the ladies room to check and see if my current opponent played their word on “words with friends”… welcome to the 21 century Trish!

It’s been nearly two months since Phriend and I went on a photo adventure. With the weather promising to be cooperative (not that we really care what the weather is), we once again, gathered up camera gear and headed out. Our travels took us to Batsto Village, an 1800s ore mining town complete with general store, post office, grist mill, blacksmith and wheel shop, barns, ice houses, sawmill, and the mansion. All of the buildings remain intact and displayed as they would have been during the many years of activity. To our disappointment, no photography was permitted in the mansion but all other buildings were free game.
Admittedly, some of the building were old and more than a bit creepy but true to our sense of adventure, Phriend and I left no building unexplored. I found the Grist Mill offered lots of old time shots.

I am not exactly certain as to what this is.
I would surmise some sort of insect has burrowed into the branch and is now calling it home.
*A huge thanks to Sharon @ sprouts and wildlings for ID; it is a praying mantis egg case, or ootheca.

Willow has been accompanying us on our daily excursions out into the fields. Each day begins new discoveries; the scent of deer is in the air, the remains of a hawk’s rabbit dinner are scattered about and fox has left an evening deposit of scat.
And while I do take photos of Willy, I think she is feeling a bit slighted as I have been posting daily “Yellow Girl” updates. So today, in the interested of appeasing “Black Dog”, I share a shot of her getting a good view of the game farm.

Day 5 ~ with "Yellow Girl" brought more learning and exploring. She comes, running and bouncing, when called, she sits with a bit of wiggling, she sleeps through the night, and she has had very few "accidents" in the house. She is making friends with Murf and Willy, blue gorilla and pink tiger.
She has learned one can never have too many friends.

After a heavy rain last evening, the sky was gray and overcast for most of the morning. Our day was slow to start and after taking the pups for a run in the fields, B and I went for lunch at the Chinese Buffet (insert yummy here). After filling our bellies, we decided to drive over to the beach and to our luck the sky had started to clear.
