Camera Critters #2:

Meet “LW!” (Since the gift of puppy raising is done anonymously, we refer to her as “LW” when blogging) She is our Seeing Eye puppy and is certainly in charge! At 10 months of age, she possesses a zest for life like no other! We will be enjoying her company for another 8 months, before her return to The Seeing Eye for formal harness training. We have an entire blog dedicated to our joys and adventures with her.

I think you're wonderful! I have thought it would be wonderful to do this but I don't think I am commanding enough. I would cave too much. :( I'm justa pushover. :)

Lisa Marie ~ Thank you, I am sure you could do it, as the most important thing we can do is to love these puppies.

Aww!! I just saw a flyer in our local Starbucks for this sort of thing...raising a seeing eye dog for a year (expenses paid) until the dog is old enough for training. I think that is so awesome you're doing this!

Oh - it's that "I'm a goober" look!! I love it!! You have some wonderful shots there.

Rhea ~ yes, there are many dog guide schools that reach out for the assistance of "puppy raisers". I raise for The Seeing Eye in Morristown NJ.

Vader's Mom ~ oh yes she was a goober after jumping in the mud puddle!

She is so beautiful. She must be extremely intelligent too to have such an important job and training.

I love these photos, and I love your blog.

Oh what wonderful pups! And the photos ain't bad either .. ;-D

I know someone who participated in that sort of program up in Westchester .. she said it broke her heart to 'give' her charge up but she also knows what a wonderful life he will have... you have to be very special to do something like that!

How can you refuse that face? I would get too attached to do what you do. We need more people like you to do these things.

What a beautiful dog! I love dogs. I think it would be hard to raise puppies and then see them go away. I just love them so much and get attached so easily. But I think it is a wonderful thing.

Hi Everyone ~ thank you for all your kind comments.

By far the number one question I am asked is, "How can you give them back?" Perhaps, I will address this question in next week's post.

She is precious! That zest for life comes shining through.

You do a wonderful service. I too, would cave in. I think it would be like giving up one of my own children. I'm sure it is somewhat heartbreaking.
Beautiful puppy.

You are special people to do such special and important duty as "foster parents". Now can anybody tell me why dogs love water and mud so much?? That's why cats are my type of companion!

Eh, eh

Is not there for the mud ...

That's wonderful and a great thing you do. The dog is beautiful. I'd have a hard time letting go though when it's time to give them up.

How incredible to be doing this! And she's so gorgeous :) I love the one of her playing in the mud. She has a kindred spirit that lives with us - he loves to run in the rain and splash in the mud :)

Have a wonderful day!
