Meet “LW!” (Since the gift of puppy raising is done anonymously, we refer to her as “LW” when blogging) She is our Seeing Eye puppy and is certainly in charge! At 10 months of age, she possesses a zest for life like no other! We will be enjoying her company for another 8 months, before her return to The Seeing Eye for formal harness training. We have an entire blog dedicated to our joys and adventures with her.

I think you're wonderful! I have thought it would be wonderful to do this but I don't think I am commanding enough. I would cave too much. :( I'm justa pushover. :)
Lisa Marie ~ Thank you, I am sure you could do it, as the most important thing we can do is to love these puppies.
Aww!! I just saw a flyer in our local Starbucks for this sort of thing...raising a seeing eye dog for a year (expenses paid) until the dog is old enough for training. I think that is so awesome you're doing this!
Oh - it's that "I'm a goober" look!! I love it!! You have some wonderful shots there.
Rhea ~ yes, there are many dog guide schools that reach out for the assistance of "puppy raisers". I raise for The Seeing Eye in Morristown NJ.
Vader's Mom ~ oh yes she was a goober after jumping in the mud puddle!
She is so beautiful. She must be extremely intelligent too to have such an important job and training.
I love these photos, and I love your blog.
Oh what wonderful pups! And the photos ain't bad either .. ;-D
I know someone who participated in that sort of program up in Westchester .. she said it broke her heart to 'give' her charge up but she also knows what a wonderful life he will have... you have to be very special to do something like that!
She looks like she's having so much fun!
Oh it looks so fun! Great shots!
What a cutie patootie LW is. I'm in love.
How can you refuse that face? I would get too attached to do what you do. We need more people like you to do these things.
Oh she is so adorable and looks like she is having a great time for sure
I think that is a neat thing your doing, but i have to say it would be so hard to give her up, Bless you for being able to do so as they are definitely needed

What a beautiful dog! I love dogs. I think it would be hard to raise puppies and then see them go away. I just love them so much and get attached so easily. But I think it is a wonderful thing.
Looks like she's having lots of fun! I know a couple of yellow dogs who would love to join her in that mud puddle. :-)
LOL labs and water.. !! I am sure lw one will do a wonderful!Looks like a mud puppy to me
Hi Everyone ~ thank you for all your kind comments.
By far the number one question I am asked is, "How can you give them back?" Perhaps, I will address this question in next week's post.
She is precious! That zest for life comes shining through.
You do a wonderful service. I too, would cave in. I think it would be like giving up one of my own children. I'm sure it is somewhat heartbreaking.
Beautiful puppy.
What a lovely puppy, & what good work you do socialising for Guide Dogs for the Blind.
But I too wonder how you can bare to part with them.

First shot is brilliant - and great colours on your Jenkinson's shots, too.
just perfect sandy big smile
You are special people to do such special and important duty as "foster parents". Now can anybody tell me why dogs love water and mud so much?? That's why cats are my type of companion!
Eh, eh
Is not there for the mud ...
That's wonderful and a great thing you do. The dog is beautiful. I'd have a hard time letting go though when it's time to give them up.
She’s beautiful … and my Molly would love to play. I’m introducing her at Small Reflections today and I play Camera Critters for the 1st time ;--)
Hugs and blessings,
such a cute one!
I just understood what she is doing, she must be very intelligent ! these dogs are priceless !
Takes a special dog to do this kind of work as well as it takes special handlers to train them...Awesome
What a neat looking dog. It's wonderful that they can be more than just pets also. I hope you have a long fun journey with LW.
Oh I so wanna come and play with LW! You are an awesome woman! Kudos to you!
LW is beautiful!
How incredible to be doing this! And she's so gorgeous :) I love the one of her playing in the mud. She has a kindred spirit that lives with us - he loves to run in the rain and splash in the mud :)
