Eight years ago, when it was time for one of our Seeing Eye puppies to be returned and my older son was leaving for boot camp, I decided it was time for another fulltime dog. I suppose I was suffering from “empty nest syndrome.” Furthermore, Orlando needed a friend. I wanted a female yellow Labrador, went to the shelter to look at a collie and came home with Murf!
Murphy is our “middle child,” and displays all the symptoms: he has to fight for attention and often feels ignored. He is the best babysitter for all of puppies. He has the silliest ears. In addition, he is the mellowest dog you will ever meet. He is, indeed, one handsome boy. And his striking markings, frequently inspire the question: “what kind of dog is that?” I generally respond with, “a good one.”

Thanks for the closeups of Murphy as I thought I saw some resemblance to my dear old Pashka from your sidebar pics. The siberian husky that shows up in him would account for the mellowness and that sleeping posture! Thanks so much for sharing. My Pashka passed away in March.

He is a handsome young man! Very nice meeting you Murphy!!
Nonizamboni ~ I am sorry for your loss. I have often had the same thoughts about their lives being too short, but than I remember not every dog is living in the comfort of a loving home. And I fear for them live is too long.
You're right Murf does resemble your Pashka. I am sure he had husky in him but whatelse is involve in the mix is anyone's guess!
Vader's mom ~ thank you, Murf enjoys reading about Vader too!

Murphy is a great dog, you can immediately tell from the photos. I love the sleeping Murphy — he's so comfortable and relaxed that you know he knows he is well-loved.
