This photo of my precious Orlando expresses many of my emotions. As I look at him standing, handsomely, amidst the tall grasses, I can’t help but to notice his graying beard. His nearly 12 years of age is evident and his future days are notability few.
Orlando, the third puppy I raised for The Seeing Eye, decided the career of a dog guide wasn’t for him. He tried very hard to focus on his studies while in school but found his heart belonged with me. He was welcomed back home with open arms. Not a day has passed in which Orlando and I have not spent time together and I have 12 years worth of fond memories of my faithful companion.

Thanks for stopping by...I must have taken 25 shots of that hummingbird before I got one I liked :-)
OH MY..Your dogs are BEAUTIFUL!!! What wonderful subjects. I have a tough time getting pictures of my dogs and cats..they want to be ON me :-)
I look forward to coming by and looking at more of your pictures..off to bed now!
MP ~ Your photo of the hummingbird is wonderful. It would have taken me far more than 25 to get one I liked.
Thank you for your kind words.
What a sweet story. You're right, that picture really hits the mark.
Debbie ~ thank you
Those are the most beautiful dogs! I was big into rescuing before I had children. The last dog we rescued from an abusive trainer weighted 120 pounds. It was hard to take care of her and three kids. After a year of intense love she still was too aggressive and was given to a family with a large farm. Makes me so sad how people can do that to a dog. Ok, sorry for the tirade, but those pictures made me think of her! Love the photos. You are very talented!
You made me all teared up today... Great story & photo!
Orlando is so handsome and I love the photo of him. Wonderful post, very moving :)
Mandy ~ people who do rescue have a special place in heaven.
Ivanhoe & Stacy ~ thank you, yes it saddens me that Orlando is aging so quickly. He is truly a comforting soul.

That's a beautiful photo. Makes me want to cry, but it's beautiful!
Beautiful shot and story! It does make me a little teary eyed. We rescued our black lab, and I just noticed the little gray hairs on his chin too.
Thankyou for sharing your precious photo with us! Good Luck!
Thank you for stopping by. You dog is beautiful.
Wonderful shot. I'm looking forward to many years of companionship & love with my little Seven. Poor Hubby's responsible for all of my furry kids & I'm grateful he finally talked me into a doggie.
Thanks for comin' by! :)
Orlando's post reminded me of my granddog, Jake. He is a 5 year old chocolate lab. Just about 6 months ago, my daughter mentioned that Jake was beginning to have a graying beard. Sure enough, the next time I saw him, he did. I have so many great pictures of him. I love him dearly, and have posted before about him.
Thanks for stopping by. I love your dogs!
What a great picture and what beautiful things you say in your post, my dog is turning 12 in a few months and I can't help but to think how old she's grown, but I hope that she and orlando have lots of time left yet
